Anyone know what this plant is?

It decided to start blooming last night. What I thought were developing seed pods were actually buds. Is it a weed? Is it something else?

The difference between a weed and a wildflower is whether or not it is growing where you want it to :)

yeah, pretty much... a weed is just a plant you don't want ;) though I have one growing in the middle of one of my rose bush.

they look similar, though the pedals on the flowers are more pointy. thanks, that might help me in figuring out what it is.

I think you are correct. And if that is the case they are staying - as long as they play nice with my roses. Bees and Monarch Butterflies are meaningful for this household.
